Revisiting shoes...

I know we discuss this about once a year, but it seems that the shoe companies change model names so quickly that searching didn't lead me anywhere...

Anyways, I need new casual shoes with adequate support for being on my feet all day. I had a flair up of plantar fasciitis and do not feel I am getting the support from the New Balance walkers I have been wearing.

Thoughts and recommendations...

Re: Revisiting shoes...

Jay,

I had an angry feet spell last year. I replaced some shoes, but had an "oudoors outfitters" type shop that fitted me onto a set of superfeet insoles. I've also seen them in running shops. A rigid insole with the right degree (and placement) of the arch turned me back onto some shoes that I had previously found unwearable. Some stores also carry a "Sole" branded product. My current favorite is the Anhu Elkridge II but the usual suspects from Keen are fitting well again too.

Re: Revisiting shoes...

I'll second John. Some quality insoles will go a long way towards making otherwise crap shoes into something worth wearing again. And at a fraction of the cost of a new pair of kicks on a lot of cases.

Re: Revisiting shoes...

+1 for superfeet inserts. The blue ones are perfect for me.
Also, Ecco makes an incredible "work" shoe for our industry: Track 6 Plain Toe Lo | Mens Outdoor Shoes | ECCO USA
I've worn them almost exclusively for the last 8 years. They're not cheap, but they offer incredible support and they last.
I've had 3 pairs of them that have been rebuilt a couple times, but have kept my feet happy for 8 years.
I used to have Plantar Fasciitis issues, but haven't had to wear a night brace since I started wearing these amazing shoes. Yes, I still put super feet inserts into these $200 shoes.

Re: Revisiting shoes...

I was wearing Ecco Track 5 plain toes today. I have 2 pair and alternate wearing them. Mac Kerr suggested these and I've had happy feet ever since.

Re: Revisiting shoes...

Thanks David, I had ecco as a brand in mind and those look like what I want.

I will have to look for some inserts as well but I have not had good luck with them staying in place in a shoe. It may be time to look for a custom fit.

Re: Revisiting shoes...

Well I am in a new pair of track 6's and alternating with a pair of remotes ( both ecco). Splints at night and I seem to be getting a bit better.

Next will try the inserts.
