Any particular brands you recommend (or stay away from) for mixer cases? A doghouse would be nice but not critical. Most of the ones I see for this console don't have one.

What thickness is recommended for consoles? I see 1/4" - 1/2" listed.

Thanks,
Jared

Re: Road case for Mackie Onyx 24.4

I bought (and sold) a Mackie in an SKB case. It had enough room to leave all the connectors patched.
The SKB cases are a lot lighter than cases using 1/4" or 1/2" ply, but hold up to quite a bit of abuse, and are a lot less expensive.
I added a casterboard and folding legs to the case lid, and a detachable arm rest to cover the valence when in use.

1/4" is not desirable in my opinion. Look for 3/8" min.
This depends on what you're doing with it. For small items that won't be jammed under 800lbs of stuff in a truck, 1/4" cases can be significantly lighter and perfectly adequate. The last few cases I've had made were done with corrugated plastic instead of wood - the weight savings is significant, however it's not as strong as the plywood, so only works up to a certain size. My GLD80 surface in a lift-off non-doghouse case weighs about 60lbs total. If that were done with 3/8" ply, just the case would weigh probably 45lbs.
