Roland M 200i

Re: Roland M 200i

They did a long video on it at 1PM EST and say they will repeat it
16 pre on board, 8 line on board. Lots of great features. The best integration of Ipad(s) I have seen. (When docked, the I pad becomes a touch screen that is closely coupled to the mixer including user programmable buttons on the console that control what is shown on the Ipad

$3495 List according to the video.

Presuming it 'streets' for ~$2800 and you don't already own a ipad-thingy, it will set you back around $3200. Expansion requires REAC family components. Only 4 graphic EQs.

If you already own the pad and have the Roland digital snake, it might be a real value. Otherwise not so much.

Looks cool though and is not what I expected from Roland. We'll have to wait and see what happens.

Re: Roland M 200i

List/MAP is the same price with Roland, so won't be $2800. That's nearly dealer cost.

Looks like a 'non-toy' option to compete with Presonus, Mackie, etc. Almost like they beat the X16 to market! I can see use for it, for applications where Roland is accepted (IE, between the bar band and touring worlds), $5k or less is needed, and with better support and expected longevity than Behringer is desired.

Re: Roland M 200i

$3495 List according to the video.
What I've seen published and advertised is an expected advertised 'street' price of $3,495 and with a S-1608 expander it looks like $4,995. Plus the cost of Roland's ad-hoc wi-fi dongle or a WAP if you want wireless. And while you can apparently operate it without an iPad, it seems rather onerous to do so and it really seems to depend on the iPad for typical live use. So apparently probably around $3.5K to $4k for a practical 16 mic input system and $5k to $5.5k for a 32 mic input system.

I agree with Tim, an interesting option for those that already have an investment in other V-Mix components but I'm not sure how much market beyond that given some of the existing and likely upcoming competition that may be announced before its expected availability next year.
