Just noticed this new feature in the latest firmware for the G3 and 2000 series. Haven't updated to it yet, just wondering if anyone has and how well it works.

For those who don't know, this is a mode whereby you can change channels on your beltpack to hear each musician's mix as they hear it.
Shure had this with their 900 series and Senn is now adding it.

Andrew, it does just that, changes the beltpack's receive frequency.

For the monitor engineer it is not quicker or easier than having a dedicated PFL or CUE pack with it's own frequency.

For checking IEM reception it is easier to change freq in this mode than carry a half a dozen or more packs all tuned to different freqs. It may also be of use to backline technicians.

I've just tried it and it actually does more than just change the frequency - it grabs the eq, limiter, name, pan, mode, etc. settings as well. Up to 32 profiles per pack. Definitely useful for the backline tech or someone backstage who needs to hear the show.

Very cool. I wonder if the Shure setup does as much?

No the Shure does not. Just the channels that the other packs are on/

What I do on the G2 rig is to save the other packs as user channels and scroll through if necessary. Then again I am only dealing with a max of 5 other mixes at the best of times.

I think this could be very useful for checking RF issues. Have a dedicated cue system (freq), but program all of the bands freqs into the cue pack as well. Use the Cue transmitter most of the time, but switch to a musicians frequency when walking on stage to check RF issues that they might complain about.

I don't think I would want to use this for normal cue functions, because it would be hard to adjust the pack to the correct band, and I wouldn't be able to solo and individual channel.

The trick to using it and quickly getting back to the cue freq is to have every other freq be your cue system freq. It's kluge but makes it really quick. I am touring with 900's right now and own a number of channels myself and to be honest, I have used to cue mode maybe 4 times. I would never walk test frequencies on my cue pack because I need to know if there is a bad antenna or anything else in the artist RX to make it not function correctly. Its a really cool idea, and originally I figured I would use it all the time, but (for me) it's just not something I use often. I would rather simply have a switch with a spare pack on my belt for my main performer so I can quickly hand it off if needed.
