The amounts of metal in circuit traces is extremely minimal, so chances of permanent damage are pretty high. If you ever get submersed in salt water, the best thing to do is immediately re-immerse into distilled water to rinse out any of the salt. If there is still salt in there, the corrosion will continue to get worse.
