I think it's actually three mics.... looks like they're both setup with a pair of lavs for speech plus what I'm guessing is a KSM9 capsuled handheld for the actual performance bit. Even The roots singer (Tariq Trotter) has a lav wired up in addition to his regular vocal mic.

You hate to see any decent mic hit the floor, let alone a pair of what I can only guess would be the new Shure Axient transmitters w/KSM capsules... But I doubt anyone on the crew got a chance to complain about it this time.

Perhaps that's his way to decrease unemployment in the microphone industry by leading people to replace their old mics after they copy him and trash their current ones. True leadership.

Not any sillier than cash for clunkers.

and if it was axient then although he wasn't double mic'd he would likely have been at least double transmittered
