Some people,, must be smoking good stuff.

Re: Some people,, must be smoking good stuff.

Everyones moving to digital, he must be banking on these becoming valuable museum pieces... I've been scooping up some outboard, when ever I see it popping up for low prices, I'm not ready to buy into the idea of analog going away completely.

Re: Some people,, must be smoking good stuff.

I still see value in retaining analog dynamics (although not as much value as mentioned in the parent posting)I think for recording or "money-channel" use they will have a home for quite some time.
What I'm discovering is useless are standalone digital effects processors, it seems that nobody wants to venture outside their console's internals anymore!

Nice console!

Yup I love it. Just not into the digital stuff yet. Granted its all in one compact lightweight unit, the extra 15 min of setup time, having everything in front of me, or side of me for quick access, along with still needing my rev 500, Tc electronics m3k and two d two's,, I feel comfy running it. Plus it looks cool, lol. But I do get tired of people asking me if I know what all those buttons do.

Re: Some people,, must be smoking good stuff.

I do certainly miss the wow factor of a large frame analog console with outboard. The small digital desks are kind of making us appear to be not much different than an IT guy or some other office worker. This is even moreso the case in the studio world.
