You probably should have asked those questions before you purchased.

Re: Soundcraft Expression SI 3

I own the Expression SI 2 and upgraded from the original 16.4.2

I've had 0 problems with mine, it sounds good, I like the faderglow, ease of setting up channels and inputs.

it is not as easy to use the board for recording as the Studiolive, I recently purchased the USB/MADI card but need more time to use it. I don't record that often for it to be an issue.

The app for remote control is ok, I've used it with no problems, not as refined as others, but works fine for me.

It does not have scribble strips which some don't like, but I work around it, On the screen, you can input names for the channels and it shows on the app which is nice. I use board tape or magnetic strips with no issues.

Re: Soundcraft Expression SI 3

I just found this forum mackerr, I thought I would ask. The reviews look good on it.

Thanks Jim, those are good to know. I'll have to play with the remote app to get used to it then I take it.

We been doing a lot of bigger shows and festivals lately and 16 channels haven't bee enough. Been having to use my old 32 channel analog board like a sub group into the 16.4.2. It is a lot of unnecessary gear to drag out.

Re: Soundcraft Expression SI 3

I also went from the SL 16.4.2 to an Expression 3. No issues, easy to use, great features. The remote app isn't as good as the SL - no tap tempo for example. Also, hard to beat the SL for recording. Unfortunately I have been a victim of a robbery and lost my Expression 3. I will be replacing it with an Expression 1 and a 32 channel stage box. That way I will have a 16 channel board for the majority of my work and 32 channels when needed.

Re: Soundcraft Expression SI 3

I recently bought an Expression 2 which I love. But it killed me when they dropped the price of the Impact to $2200. $200 for scribble strips would have definitely been worth it. I have a 24 ch snake so until I can get a stage box (which costs as much as the silly board) I don't have to play around with layers too much as I'm usually running less than 24 inputs. And I don't actively mess with FX returns other than muting them, which you can set up without jumping to that layer.

Re: Soundcraft Expression SI 3

I bought one for our church and I really like it. One minor thing to watch for. With it's ~66 internal channels, if you've been assigning/de-assigning channels to faders, it's possible to have an unassigned channel still open and passing audio. In other words, de-assigning a channel from a fader doesn't turn the channel off!!

I am in the Dayton, Ohio area and have an Expression 3.

Its a great board, but does not have the diversity and quality of applications available when compared to Yamaha / Behringer / Presonus.

However, I understand that they are working on closing the gap and will be releasing new and updated applications.

You should definitely take a look at the Si Facebook pages to read about the pluses and minuses.

Bottom line... It a great board for the price. It will be even better when they improve / add applications !
