The following was taken from my van parked outside my apartment in Chicago's Pilsen neighborhood on late Monday (8/13) or early Tuesday (8/14) morning:
4 x Mackie SRM450v2 in Mackie nylon cases w/25' xlr and IEC in zippered pouch
4 x Speaker stands (2 ea. in 2 long zippered bags)

Yes, leaving gear in the van was a bad idea, yes this is not the most high-end gear, but I still make my living off of it. What I'd like to know is what I can do to investigate. What kind of places should I keep an eye on? This is kind of a hyper-local question, but I know there's Chicago guys on here, so I appreciate your input. If there is a more useful place on the forum to post this I'd appreciate that tip, too.

Thanks.

Re: Stolen Gear in Chicago

Bummer. I hope you was insured. A few years ago I had some kids break into my truck in Joliet (Rockdale actually) and took quite a bit of stuff out through the cab. It was a bitter cold night too (around 0F). Anyway, I visited some local pawn shops and one shop owner had some of my stuff. He ended up with it when the kids tried to sell it to him but got scared and left it at his door. He decided to hang onto it and wait for someone to come looking for it. Those particular pieces didn't have any of my ID or business cards so he had no idea who it belonged to. That was a mistake on my part. There are a few things that I never recovered including a sound physics labs speaker that I'm impressed they even tried to carry. I've had a vision of someday finding it in a mexican restaurant/bar in downtown joliet, hooked to a jukebox. Seeing that your stuff was taken in Pilsen I have the same vision for you. ;)
