Hello,

I have a Logitech z506 sound system, and when the P2 cable is disconnected, it makes a buzz sound forever. When I connect it to my notebook, cellphone or anything like that, the buzz stops.

I've seen the cable is very sensitive, if I touch it with my fingers it gives louder buzzes and things like that.

What can I do to stop the buzzing when the cable is disconnected?

PS: If I shutdown my notebook, it also buzzes!

If this is on building power it sounds like an imbalance on one of the Delta wye transformer legs. If it is on generator power I would start with a careful remetering of all of the legs including frequency. T.J. had done a nice writeup on metering you should be able to find by searching the forum.

Is everything powered from the same AC circuit and outlet?
Are there signal or date interconnects to other systems?

While a High Leg Delta or a Delta/Wye AC power can be a big problem, it's usually in multi-room or multi-building systems.

Turn off the Logitech unit.

It's usually what I do, but it's a pain when I'm almost sleeping in my bed and I turn off my computer using the wireless mouse and the buzzing starts.

I have zero idea what you're talking about. lol

Yes, everything is connected to the same outlet.

The Delta/Wye thing is the kind of problem that large TV and movie studios sometimes have.

Are there any cable TV, telephone or internet cables involved?

Sorry for taking long to answer!

It's a pretty simple setup, just the sound system connected to the power outlet and a P2 cable that goes to the computer. I think it might have something to do with statics or something, because the plug is very sensitive. Is there some kind of filter I could use, or maybe a plug "tampon" lol?
