Riders in the Sky immediately came to mind to me as well, as I was reading your post, and Dick's next post ratified my thought.
Bellamy Bros. are a talented act, but their audience is the Red Stater-but-I-like-to party crowd, nothing at all like MMM's demographic, which is: Prarie Home Companion listener; B.A., English Lit., etc. 
I'm assuming you've got your Folk bases covered, but Gillian Welch, if you can afford her, would be the hugest draw, I'm sure.
