After performing at a local night club reunion last year a group of us who played together in the 70's/ 80's have decided to form a new band. I dusted off the cob-webs from my old gear, (realized how outdated and heavy it was) sold it all off and purchased a new manageable sized rig to do some of our smaller shows. I am not an experienced engineer, I would like to HIRE someone to help me analyze, tune and properly set up my system. I reside in the Catonsville Maryland area but am happy to haul the gear to another location. Secondly I am also looking for a system provider for our larger shows along with a engineer with really good ears perhaps with the possibility of establishing a relationship for the same person to run my system as a freelance engineer. Danley TH118, Qrx212's, QSC amps, ashley dsp etc... Thanks for the look.

Hi Barre,
Give forum member Evan Kirkendall of Harford Sound a call, Www.harfordsound.com . He's knowledgeable with system alignment and set up, and right up the road in Towson. he has a few rigs of his own, and he knows a guy right up the road in Delaware with some nice D&B gear and a line array system for your bigger shows ;-)

Someone will probably come along and suggest that you use your full name to post here. That said, I think this is probably one of the most reasonable first posts I've ever seen. You don't want free advice about how to make all your vintage gear work but instead want to PAY someone to help you set up your wisely chosen new gear.

Congrats on making the RIGHT moves and welcome to the forum!

Hopefully someone local will chime in...

i think the thing that contributes most to this being such a great first post is the fact that these guys played together in the 70s. that means they are real live actual grownups. funny how that contributes to your knowledge of how the world actually works.

i'll second the recommend of evan kirkendall. great place to start and he's right up the road. there are actually a number of us 'local guys' on this board so you've come to the right place.

have fun having fun...

I really appreciate the responses and the warm welcome to the forum. Crawling my way back into the world of music and production has been both exciting and challenging...having a blast! I have heard of Evan, in fact we must have mutual acquaintances since I see his posts on Facebook. I'll reach out to him regarding our project. Thanks again!!!

Re: System Alignment Wanted/ System & Engineer Maryland Area shows

UPDATE- Packed up the gear, headed north and met with Evan this week. It was fascinating to observe the process and the results were outstanding! I am now confident in my choice of equipment and have piece of mind knowing the system is tuned and protected properly. Except for needing a mixing console change, I feel the band can hire a professional FOH engineer who would likely be pleased to mix on my system. I spent countless hours scouring the forums for peq, limiter settings etc... Informative yes, but in the end fruitless. If you are a weekend warrior, a band with their own rig, small sound company etc.. take my advise- Hire a pro like Evan to analyze and tweak your gear to be the best it can be. THANK YOU Evan.
