The Acoustic Diode

Re: The Acoustic Diode

I'm not sure how new of a concept that is...

One of the transducer engineers at Peavey back when I was working there designed loudspeaker ports that restricted air flow preferentially in one direction or the other, so two opposing ports could promote internal cabinet air turnover.

While not literally a sound diode, perhaps suggestive of that.

Re: The Acoustic Diode

It will be interesting to see if this ever becomes a product. I work on the 18th floor of a downtown building and I'd love to hear a few less sirens and car alarms. Hopefully it's a little closer to reality than the "invisibility cloak" stuff they've been working on, or OLED screens that "will save the world", but never seem to make it to market.

And he got a patent for it. It's being used commercially in a few products.
