The Audio Critic's "10 Biggest Lies in Audio"

Actually, they are on to the "others" amongst themselves.
I for one would not like to be judged as a whole by some of those that get bounce from this place.

That piece is dated 2000...while those myths are like a bad penny that keeps turning up.

I thought the biggest audio lie was "no you sound great" .. :-)

On a similar vein but in much more depth a friend of mine just got his book published...

While Ethan is more of a studio and orchestra guy (plays cello), the physics and science are all the same.

It seems like this book comes with Video and Audio content (presumably on a DVD). Any idea how one gets that content if the ebook version is purchased?

I'm pretty sure it is either hosted on Ethan's website, or another website dedicated just to the book.

He said he sent me my signed copy last week (with the spare parts) so I'm expecting it any day now, but I already read it, one chapter at a time, while he was writing it.

OK looking at the link i posted about the book..

"To reduce server space and bandwidth, the publisher's web site for my book streams low-res versions of the videos. The DVD included with books sold through my web store contains the original high-resolution MP4 files. So you avoid the hassle of logging into a web site to download files and view the videos online, and also get higher quality videos."

So low res via website download, hi res requires DVD.

Re: The Audiofools are at it again.

Thanks, JR.

So purchasing it anywhere other than from his site gets you just the book and access to the low-res videos. Buying from his site gets you the DVDs with the high-res videos.

I don't know... It appears he is bundling in a DVD of his own recordings, with the signed copy if buy directly from him...

I will send him an email and ask your specific question, then post his answer.

Re: The Audiofools are at it again.

Ok I heard back from Ethan.

"All of the bonus content for the book is on the publisher's web site. Not just videos, but three bonus chapters and many audio examples. The book I sell direct is a personalized signed first edition, and I include all of the extra content to save readers the hassle of downloading it. Since I'm including a DVD, I provide the original hi-res versions of the videos as MP4 files. Versus the lower quality versions that can only be streamed at the publisher's site.'

So yes, higher quality files when buying Ethan's personalized first edition....
