That has the same effect as turning down the amp levels and lowering the noise floor. Again it does nothing to the max output capability of the system.That way it is real easy to remember where they were set at origionally during the alignment and most "normal people" never turn anything down, they only turn it up-which not only throws off the alignment of the system, but also the gain structure.
