Right, but you *could* have some kind of "DCA EQ" function that applied that EQ to each assigned channel, along with those channels' own EQ.  IE each channel would have a second set of DSP for EQ, controlled by the master EQ on the DCA.  Obviously there are complications with this, like what happens when you assign to more than one DCA.


You could even implement compression.  A summed signal of all the DCA members sent to an outboard compressor, and the amplitude envelope of the output captured and analyzed to provide a control signal to the DCA master.  Likely there would be all manner of issues with latency, but in theory it's sort of possible.
