Touchscreen monitor + BLU80 for live mixing

Let's say I was in possession of a mac mini, a BSS BLU-80 with a boatload of I/O, and I want to use a touchscreen monitor to mix instead of a physical board.

1) What type / brand-model / size of touchscreen should I use?
2) London Architect has lots of goodies, but is there a software interface that would be better than that to control things realtime?

There may be huge holes in this idea, but I'm just curious as I've heard that Diana Krall's monitor engineer doesn't use a board.

Hello Daniel,
I discussed this very idea with some people at Soundweb training earlier this year. I think you pretty much have to use London Architect on BLU product. Even more affordable, would be using 1 or 2 BLU100's.

Somebody at BSS has developed 24 channel mixer software that could be used for this purpose. I'd have to dig around, but I'm pretty sure I have it saved. Send me a pm or e-mail and I'll send it to you.

Thanks,

Grant

Re: Touchscreen monitor + BLU80 for live mixing

I found it. It's a 24x16 mixer interface, ideal for 2 - Blu100's. Each channel has 6 band parametric eq, comp, gates, and auto mixing. 8 auxes. The master output has 16 band parametric eq. Soundweb is limited only by your time and imagination. If you're really adept at programming, you could expand on this interface to create something much larger.

The beauty of this idea, is that your DSP and digital snake are already built in. I personally think BSS should market this.
