Hello!

I was just in london for a production where the local crew told me we had to pay for the use of certain equipment as we were not in the right band/frequency range.
he said that we were only allowed to use the vhf frequencies of 170 Mhz and the uhf frequency band of 863-865 Mhz.

on the jfmg website (http://www.jfmg.co.uk/pages/freq/freq.htm) the band 854-862 Mhz doesn't mention restriction and says "available until july 2012"... That means we can still use our equipment in this band license free, or am I that wrong?

thanks very much!
Stijn.

Hi Stijn,

on the jfmg website (http://www.jfmg.co.uk/pages/freq/freq.htm) the band 854-862 Mhz doesn't mention restriction and says "available until july 2012"... That means we can still use our equipment in this band license free, or am I that wrong?

See JFMG's website here, here, and here.

854-862MHz is Channel 69 and is indeed available for use until July 2012. But it's licensable. An annual "shared" licence for Ch 69 (and 38) is £75 from JFMG. Alternatively, individual "co-ordinated" frequencies anywhere (subject to availability) can be licensed for £8.50 each for 48 hours. Six or more frequencies within a single TV channel are £51 for 48 hours. The only licence-free UHF spectrum is the bit of Channel 70 you mention.
