So I had a question about a wireless microphone system. I purchased the Sennheiser FreePort (manual) about 4 years ago for my bass guitar, and I had a Samson Airwave 77 as well for wind instruments.
A couple months ago I had an issue with my Airwave system, as there was a constant low hum. I tried fixing it but to no avail; I even tried different connections and using hum eliminators and different DI Boxes and that didn't help much either. I decided looking for alternatives but have found nothing that is really within my price range.
I was perusing around forums and found out that there may be a workaround where I could plug in a clip-on condenser into my FreePort, which has a 3.5mm jack. The one recommended was the E908B-EW (manual), which is a clip-on condenser designed for Sennheiser's Evolution series, which has a 3.5mm output.
It says nothing in the description about the particular microphone requiring phantom power, just a Sennheiser bodypack is required. I want to hear from some of you though, to see if you think that plugging into this particular microphone into the FreePort body pack would actually work.
The worst thing that could happen is that it probably doesn't work, and then I'd just have to return it. But I'd rather not go through the hassle if I know it's not going to work right off the bat.
