Just got my UX 3600, sold my 8800 as I did not need all the features. Just hooked it up with Pilot software and am amazed how convoluted the interface still is! Can someone walk me through setting up the 3600 for my KF850e's? The manual seems to have no simple setup instructions. Am I missing something obvious. Thanks ahead of time.

Re: Ux 3600

Wondering why we can't just load a specific preset to the 3600's memory... Say 'stereo KF 850'e 3 way' then just load that preset and fill in the amp values? I remember all my frustration with the 8800 in this area. What is so complicated?

Re: Ux 3600

When I try to assign Greybox it comes up for the first 3 outputs and won't save those settings if I go to another output. I need to do output then input in order for it to take? Is there no way to load the preset and call it up on the front panel after I set it up?

Re: Ux 3600

The UX won't remember your settings if you don't assign outputs in the greybox window.
Once you set up the settings you want just store it to a program on the front panel. Now you can edit all your settings in pilot, load a different greybox etc. and store it to another program. Then it's a simple matter of pressing load on the front panel to switch between them.

I could make you an Ux file if you wish, it's a five minute job once you know your way around inside pilot :)

Helge beat me to it, it would easier to send you a file for Pilot, then load it into the 3600 than to tell you how. And yes, once the file is loaded into the UX, you can store it via the controls on the front panel.

Re: Ux 3600

Thanks. I need a preset for stereo input..A+B.. For a stereo 3 way KF 850e tramp rig. Power amps are Crest 8001 for low and kid and 7001 for highs. Gain for all amps is 40V. 7001 is 810w and 8001 is 1225w both at 4 ohms.
Thanks!!!

right if you do not assign the output in the dropdown selecta then it no savey.. you can tell engineers built this ui :)

Re: Ux 3600

Got the file. I can't even get pilot to see the UX 3600...or it doesn't seem to. I am gonna have to call Joe at EAW. I swear the guy who designed this thing must have had an agenda. I have never seen a more unintuitive and needlessly complex unit in my life. The Behringer DCX 2496 software is a sweet vacation compared to this!

- Use a crossover network cable.
- Set your computer up to a static IP, usually 192.168.0.1.
- Set subnet, usually 255.255.255.0
- Open pilot, go to Tools>communications, enter 192.168.0.24 as target ip address, hit add, ok, then try going online.

This has never failed on me.

Re: Ux 3600

Yes Helge and Jeff are correct..
The UX3600 is a USB controlled processor only
you will need to install the drivers as it is stated in the opening window once you launch Pilot, the directory of where the drivers are should also be shown in that window
Once you install the drivers (2x) then you can go into Pilot, and Tools > Communications to select the COM port that the UX is on
Then simply hit "Go Online" in the software and the UX3600 should show up in the right hand window.

If you run into issues with this please feel free to contact me directly outside of this forum.

Re: Ux 3600

Technically, it has a USB port. What it actually has is a built-in USB->RS232 chipset. What I *wish* it had is an RS232 port, as well as the USB. Seeing as it's serial communications anyway. That would open up a means to network it via rs-232-->TCP/IP drivers & adapters. So I guess what I *really* wish it had was a network port. But hey. Considering the life it breathed into our KF730 rig, I can't complain too much.
If I remember correctly, it installs two drivers when you connect. Once you've connected, check your device manager to ensure there's no bad drivers. I did have troubles with one of my USB ports not playing nice with it; had to switch to a different USB port. But I blame that on Windows' USB management system and/or my PC.
As far as intuitive-ness, I don't recall having too much difficulty figuring it out. Odd that there's no 'you haven't assigned an output' warning, but there *is* a 'you haven't set up the amp gain' warning preventing you from exiting the greybox setup screen. The two-step Input setup seems odd at first, but serves a purpose. A simple matrix or per-output input-mixer would be easier.
My only real complaint about this box is there's no way to manage the internal storage of the UX3600. As in, I can't save directly to file in the box. Which means, after I set up a system in the software, I then have to store it to the UX3600 via the front-panel interface, which is a slow process. Silly, really, and quite annoying. 'Save to box' is a necessity. Especially when I've got to set up four of them with similar options.

I've had pretty good luck with this guy: SIIG USB over IP - USB adapter - Ethernet - USB, USB 2.0 at TigerDirect.com
allowing control of a USB device over IP
