UX8800 - huh?

I consider myself decently savy in the computer deptarment but for the life of me I cannot figure out the methodology behind saving a preset in this processor.... If someone could enlighten me on the steps involved in saving a preset, i'd appreciate it...
so far I have done the following.

Linked up to the UX processor via pilot. Build the preset I want using pilot... I am assuming I am performing live updates to the processor as I am changing things in pilot. Once I have completed the "preset" I manually save it in a slot (from the front )in the processor, and save the processor in the computer as well. Is this correct? I was messing with it the other day and managed to get 3 presets in the processor , but it seemed only successful from various copying and pasting and multiple saves, and renaming inputs etc... it just seemed "clunky". There doesn't seem to be any "preset list" from pilot that you can drop down and choose see... this would be a nice to have in my opinion (cough *EAW*) Anyway, any help would be appreciate, point form steps if someone had the time.

There is currently no way to view the presets saved in the UX from the Pilot software (I'd be happy to be corrected by someone in ASG). I recall a preset from the front panel, then connect and have the Pilot read the settings from the processor. Or I build presets within Pilot, connect to the UX and send the preset to the UX, (long sigh) and then, save the preset from the panel of the UX.

I've never really fussed about it, because I really love what the UX does for the various EAW speaker rigs, but working with it is a fairly clumsy process. However, there's also some weirdness with the Ashly Protea software, too. So it's probably something weird with all of them.
