Voice sounds uneven after noise removal?

After noise reduction my voice sounds uneven if volume is more than 40.There are many ups and downs and also there are echos sort of thingy.

Audacity noise reduction sucks.

It does, but at least it doesn't have the compression garble of Adobe Audition.

Are you getting a pure clean background noise to set as the profile?
Do you need 24db of reduction? I've always used 12db and it has worked well.

I used audacity.

Single ended noise reduction is always subject to difficulty separating the noise from the good signal. In my experience you can better results from using less of two or more different single ended noise reduction approaches combined. Results will never be perfect.
