Looking for really wide throw wash lights
RGBA or RGBAW

Have Blizzard Puck Q6A but the beam is tighter than I want
I'd like a general "light up the whole stage" light.
Not a "light up one person" light

Club budget - Definitely under $300/light, preferably under $200
Suggestions?
Thanks!

On an LED fixture, taping is probably fine. The Chauvet SlimPar Pro RGBAs I use came with gel frames, but are about a 20° fixture if I remember right, so would still require diffusion.

Any fixture that uses high-power LEDs will be using a secondary optic to collimate the beam. Removal of this optic will give you a roughly 90 degree beam.

While out of your budget, the RGBAW stuff from Color Kinetics makes this task pretty easy.

Cut-Rite Wax Paper. Cut to fit snug inside the rim of the can, use a few small pieces of black gaff tape to hold it in. You probably take a 2/3 F stop loss, but it's smooth.
