Way off topic - motion sensors

Last year in the other forum I had asked about motion sensors for a driveway alarm but can't find the thread today... sigh

I know someone who was quite knowledgeable had suggested a few specific models for me to try. I have one from my parts bin in place these days and even though I have the sensitivity turned down as much as I can, it still triggers on light changes in the morning with the branches moving or clouds or even rain.

I plan to put a buried sensor next to the drive next summer but if I can just swap out the current device for the rest of this winter it would be nice. I hate the 50 or more alarms I get most mornings...
The current sensor triggers a time delay relay which "pushes" a doorbell button.

Thanks

Re: Way off topic - motion sensors

Lee, thanks for finding the thread.

One thing I guess I omitted is that I have pvc pipe buried down the driveway so I don't need wireless. I can run wires. My electric meter panel is about halfway up the driveway (where the electric company told my electrician it had to be) and I have several runs of empty pvc to there. That is where the current motion sensor is located.

I guess for now I will try to find one of the models Vinnie recommends.

So, I have ordered a RAB STL110 and will report back after I install it.

Thanks for the pointer Vinnie.

I was able to buy it from an Amazon seller. I replaced the ancient unit I had with it, set it for daylight use, minimum time and low sensitivity.
So, 3 days later, no false alarms. Of course, in 3 days I have not had a sunny, breezy morning :-)
