What happen with Gen II for Midas Consoles?

Have the Gen II software been recalled from all the consoles? Its over a month since the Pro2 Gen2 software was recalled due to a critical bug. Like most people I guessed it would be a matter of days/weeks before a fix would be released. Anyone have any info or rumors about when Midas will release a fix/update for the consoles?

Hi Fredrik,

The reason for the delay in re-releasing Generation-II is that one of the bugs has proved very difficult to replicate reliably. We have had more than 10 consoles running 24 hours a day for many weeks at our UK HQ trying to replicate the bug, but with no results up until a short time ago. This was the essential step in the process.

Unless a bug can be reliably and repeatedly replicated it is impossible to find what the underlying cause is and then fix it. Repeatability is essential to identify, fix and then test the fix to prove its solved the original issue and that the fix is not causing a new issue somewhere eslse. This is especially true with such complex systems as our consoles. We believe that we have now found the final piece of the puzzel and this is now being tested.

But until testing is completed successfully we do not want to give our users and customers false hope or expectations of an imminent release date that then goes by the way side if testing shows the fix of a bug to be incomplete. This is particularly important when the issue is audio related. At this moment testing is going well, but like I said I'm not going to commit to a release date before the current test plan is complete.

As I know many contributors to this forum will appreciate, software development and particularly testing that software is a very complex task. Even when you throw all available resources at something it doesn't always make a difference. Sometimes things just take time. But please be assured that everything has and is being done.

Thanks for your continued patience.

What's the bug you can't replicate about? Maybe I have experienced the same issue. I have the talent to break or crash every piece of hardware without touching it. :)
