I have 2 Yamaha C115V Club Series mains (8 ohms each) and 2 Yamaha CM15V Club Series monitors (8 ohms each). Each are rated at 250w noise, 500w program, 1000w max. I will be running the mains parallel (4 ohms) through channel 1 and the monitors parallel (4 ohms) through channel 2 of a power amp. What size power amp do I need to operate this speaker setup safely and efficiently? I'm thinking a QSC GX7 (1000 watts per side at 4 ohms, or should I go with the GX8 at 1200 watts per side at 4 ohms?

Be sure to look at the ratings of the amplifier to determine if they are "Peak" or "Continuous" output values. An amplifier that can output 1000 Watts peak is no match for an amplifier that can output 1000 watts continuously.

Actually, for those cabs, I would go with a GX5. Also, high-pass them at about 75Hz and make a -3dB cut at 3.5KHz with a Q of 2. You'll thank me later. I have many hours on these exact speakers and they are a great value, but don't be tempted to push them much past 350W; you will let the magic smoke out. Good news is that HF diaphragms and other parts are cheap for them when you do push them too hard (as I have done).

Thanks, Chad. The GEQs I will be purchasing will be constant Q, so I won't have the option of widening the Q. I was actually about to go with the GXD8. I think with it I'll be able to limit the wattage going to the speakers, yet still have room for expansion (more, or larger speakers) later.

Um, I think the GX series is non-DSP? Perhaps the GXD4?

DSP amps are pretty handy for setting a baseline / house EQ, HPF etc. I'd be inclined to go that direction.

The GXD4 and GXD8 both have DSP processing. Also, Chad...I just realized the GXD8 has parametric eq, so I will in fact be able to cut 3.5khz with a Q of 2 after all.

I could make sure that both of GXD4 and GXD8 are having DSP. The power rating GXD4 for me is closer to the program power on the top of my loudspeaker, and the GXD8 is closer to the subs program power rating. These two are nice choices and the prices are reasonable. I am wondering of these both two would be really perfect for speaker that i bought from seeing this one.
