Maybe i am missing something here with the intent.

i don't see a real problem.

What I do see is the Top cabinets are high in the air to get the highs above peoples heads and help to even out the front to back coverage.

I also see the cabinets moved to the outside-so as to improve sight lines.

If if you got more specific.

I once had a promoter at a huge outdoor festival at a mall insist we stack our 8 cabinet per side trap and W box rig in that staircase shape if that is what you are referring to. It did look really cool. The sound was what you would expect with all kinds of lobing and combing, although not near as bad as I had expected. He wrote the check so I had no problem doing it. I don't think anybody in the audience noticed or cared that the sound was not as even as it could have been and honestly those old mid high cabinets didn't array that well tight packed anyway. I will dig through my old photos and see if I can find one to post.

It actually looks like the set up in the picture might work pretty well with a packed dance floor. Those lower mid high cabinets would cover the folks in front and the upper ones would hit most everybody else. If you wanted to experiment and had the processing power you could raise the crossover point of those lower boxes a little higher and use them just for clarity in the front. Food for thought.

C'mon guys. Shane is of course referring to the robin egg blue cardigan being modelled by the stage left guitarist. It DOES look cool.
Why? Because RACECAR!

Who cares what it looks like, how did it sound?

I bet it sounded pretty good - all Yorkville TX from subs to tops and monitors. I have all those same boxes and it is a pretty potent setup. Wish I could get out and use it more.
Glad to see Ivan chiming in with not seeing a problem with the L shaped TX9s arrangement.
I have to do that every once in a while for sight lines reasons and I was half expecting our Forum Scientists to warn us about the dangers of an L shaped LF coupling pattern.:)~:-)~

I had no idea what brand or model speakers were being used-so my comment had nothing to do with that.

When somebody asks if there is a "problem" with something (who know what it is) in a photo-unless it is VERY obvious, there is no way to really know what they are talking about-hence my comments earlier on.
If there is a specific product misuse-and it is not obvious what the product model or function is-then it is very hard to guess.

In the photo in question-there are all kinds of things it could be-lighting-sound-band layout-mic use- monitor use-placement of the stage in the room and so forth.

At this stage of the game-I guess we will never know exactly what we are supposed to have an opinion on.

Anyway=as to the use of the subs in an L configuration-I see no issues. The top one is used to get the higher full range box up in the air more-which is a good thing.

As far as it having any "issue" with the one lying on the ground-no. The wavelengths are simply much larger to have any real effect. I would be MUCH more concerned about the location of the subs to the side walls-the rear wall and the spacing between them.

And to be totally honest (that is the way I am wired)-I had not noticed that the outside cabinets were stood on end. I had to look closer to the photo to even see it. Kinda hard to tell with the lights on them the way they are.

Again-the whole "obvious" thing.
