My five year old laptop is starting to fall apart, so I'm considering a new one.

As usual, I'm a bit worried about the newest offerings from Microsoft. I have WinXP and Win7 today on two machines, but it's hard to find a decent laptop that isn't bundled with Win8 these days, so I probably have to to that route.

I don't have access to any so I can't try this myself, so have anybody here used Smaart and other audio apps on Win8 successfully?
Or is it time to call it a day and buy a Macbook Pro.....

Re: Windows 8 and Smaart

We've not heard of any issues with Smaart v7 running on W8. As far as we are aware, based on internal testing and reports from users, all is well. Be sure your devices have drivers that are supported by W8.

Update:

I bought a new SSD for my other computer, a Lenovo x200 tablet, and decided to test Windows 8 64 bit on it.
So far no problems running Smaart, Lake Controller and Eaw Pilot. I'm using a Edirol UA-25 soundcard right now, no issues with that either.

And Windows 8 is way faster than previous windows editions. I recommend you try it :)
