You can obtain licenses from JFMG in the UK for "North American frequency" mics and iems. They are the frequency co ordinating and licensing body in the UK.
The temporary frequencies that you can use are location and date specific to avoid interference with broadcast and other licensees.
The UK is in the midst of the digital broadcast switchover.

Are you playing festivals? Here is a quote from JFMG...
"please be aware that all the major festivals are dealt with in-house. This means that the frequencies will be blocked on our website so that they can be properly coordinated by our spectrum planners."
I have had UK production companies do the paperwork for me in the past, but we were renting some of their gear as well.

A few years ago we were providing for a band from the US who were touring with all their own radio kit. The drummer managed to turn on his IEM receiver before the transmitter was powered up. He got a full-volume blast of white noise through his earphones. I still remember the violence with which he ripped them out of his ears.
I'm not sure what the root cause of the problem was, but I've always taken it as a lesson to careful with non-native RF kit and keep a close eye on squelch settings.
