Hey there,

Just joining the forum, but have been in this realm and loving it for over 15 years.

Looking to accomplish the following, not sure if it would work:

-Use the standard analog XLR inputs on our Behringer X32 as microphone inputs.
-Split the signal to our (2) Behringer S16 stage boxes on the corresponding channels, and use a male-male XLR snake to send the 32 channels to one of our analog consoles for a broadcast mix.

I've used this console and set of snake boxes in a variety of configurations before, but just curious if anyone has done anything similar and if so, what the configuration looked like. Trying to make sure we don't get burned on the day-of...very little lead time on this event (it's coming up Monday).

Thanks,
K

Re: X32 Split via S16

Are you trying to split 3 ways or 2 ways? It seems like 2 ways, but you mention splitting between 2 S16 boxes also.

If it is only 2 ways you will need an analog split snake (or just splitter) and run one end of it to the s16 and the other to the analog desk.

If it is three ways you have 2 options.

1- 3 way analog split. Same as above, but the third split would go to the second s16. This would give you control over the head amps on each x32.

2- Use a 2 way split and then digital split between the x32. 1 X32 would control the head amps.

Re: X32 Split via S16

You won't be able to use the male-male conversion option because those are dedicated inputs; they only do A-D, not D-A. If you have enough of them, you could easily send the direct outs to each of the outputs on the S-16s over AES, but I don't know if you have as many as you'll need (4).

I'm researching for other options, but I really think you might just have more success with a split snake or a second X32 with the split over the AES ports.

EDIT: Another option, if you have the equipment, is to use the ADAT outputs on the back of the S16 to give you additional outputs. Still researching.
