Yamaha AW1600

Does anyone know if the yamaha aw1600 digital recorder
can be used just as a preamp to DAW interface? I want to record some tracks in real time direct to my DAW. Not to the AW1600s hard drive then later to the DAW.
I'll have one in 2 weeks for a gig and am not sure if it will do this. ( Recorder belongs to the band and they want me to do it )
Will the usb be the full 8 tracks?
Proper DAW and drivers will be ready.
The Manual seems so sparse on this.

Had one for a few years many many years ago. You cannot use it as a USB/Firewire interface. The USB interface is 2-channel. I believe it can only be used for mixdowns.
