Yamaha User Keys

Never setup or used a user key on the consoles that have this feature. Had little look around the 'net and didn't see anything that gave me the answer so I'll ask here...

When an M7CL/LS9/CLx console is configured with a user key and that user (with limited console access) has logged in, are the locked out functions operable via Studio Manager? I have to think not, as that would be a way too easy way to circumvent the security, but I didn't see anything in the manual or on the 'net specifically stating that the functions are or are not locked out when using SM.

Anyone know for sure?

I will double check in the morning (I'll have direct access to an M7 and CL5, and can play with an LS9 via StageMix). But last time I checked, nothing is locked out in StudioManager or StageMix. Most of our venues mix from user accounts with limited access.

Re: Yamaha User Keys

From what I can tell from the limited guidance of the user's manual you can block the user from accessing the mixer setup, thereby leaving them unable to check/change the console's IP address. Change it to something non-obvious, and they'll have a tough time getting any remote software to connect.

Checked CL editor and StageMix with the CL5. Neither remote options were restricted.

I didn't get a chance to test StudioManager on an M7 or LS9, but past experience was that it is unrestricted. StageMix is unrestricted.

I really wish there were user level settings for StageMix-we often use StageMix for 'do it yourself' monitoring. Typically the guys stay out of trouble, but the possibility of calamity is high...
