Yorkville TX9's - Settings??

I have a pair of Yorkville TX9's coming my way later this week.
Does anyone have any suggested settings?
Looking for crossover and limiter settings.

I am not going to buy the TX series processor as I am not using the TX series top cabinets.
I looked at the processor in someone elses system and it appears it senses the output voltage of the amplifier powering the cabinets.
Similar to a peak voltage limiter in the Crown Itech I am guessing.
I will be using Peavey QW3f cabs for tops.

Any suggestion are appreciated!
Thanks,

Vinny

Re: Yorkville TX9's - Settings??

Hello Vinny,
I use TX9s subs with Yorkville TX4 cabs and processor.
I also use my TX9s subs with Yorkville E152 cabs and E152 processor.
I had a gig this past NYE that required me to combine both sets of mid/high cabs over four Tx9s subs in an arrayed setup.
I called Yorkville directly and was advised to crossover the subs at 90Hz when using the E152 cabs. (I was told that the TX4 processor's sub crossover is set at 90Hz.)
90Hz should get you started

Re: Yorkville TX9's - Settings??

You can't just use the sub output of the processor, and then process your tops separately?

I am sure I could, but with everything that can be done with Itech I don't see the point.
The settings you loaded in for the QW3f's sound great, along with there limiter settings.

I can probably get close enough just by ear and playing around, I was mostly just looking for some starting points.

Thanks Mike, I will see if I get a reply first from my email I just sent.
Picked up the subs this afternoon, they shipped them on a regular FedEx truck!

See the pull-down menu for OmniDrive settings. This document has been on their site for quite some time: http://yorkville.com/default.asp?p1=6&p2=121&p_id=119

Years ago when I had a TX4/TX9 rig, I remember starting with these settings, but the LPF on the TX9 was REALLY high. Depending on the quantity and configuration of the top boxes, I recall being somewhere in the 75-85 Hz range. But, that's going to depend on...well, the quantity and configuration of the top boxes.

Power-wise, the 9's are pretty power hungry. I had a PL6.0 PFC on them for a while, and had used a PL9.0 PFC on occasion. The 6.0 was 'good enough' but I was definitely happier with the 9.0. I felt like the 9.0 was a 'special case, as the big iron amps (Crest 001's, Crown MA5000s, etc.) seemed to perform the best on those boxes.

My $0.02, FWIW, YMMV, etc.

The OMNI drive setting doesn't seem to be downloading.....
You can select it, but nothing happens.

Loads fine here:

Of course, not exactly very useful settings. I'm sure there is EQ needed in there. No dual 18 box is flat to 30Hz.

I actually tested them quickly last night using the settings Bennet came up with for the QRX218 and they sounded pretty good too me.
The low filter was at 30hz, high filter at 80hz L-R, there was some real strange EQ boost on the low end freq. to get the QRX218 to get some output, it will need some calming down as the TX9 seems to do a better job.
