In the year of Alcons Audio’s 15th anniversary, ISE 2018 sees the company showing several new products, as well as the return of the popular, expanded Pro-Ribbon Immersive Experience. The company is also an official ISE Technology Partner.
The new Alcons products address demand from both the residential and pro audio markets. One is the CRMSC-SRHV cinema reference surround speaker, which features patent-pending rotatable waveguide technology and enjoyed a very positive response to its preview at the 2017 US CEDIA show.*
Also on show will be the CRMS-LFE18, Alcons’ first subwoofer dedicated to home cinema installations. Featuring a custom 18″ woofer with dual-coil motor and extra-long, 30mm excursion capability, it is mounted in a sealed cabinet and SIS pre-wired for super tight reproduction of even the lowest octaves.
Both are sure to be received very favourably by ISE visitors, along with the other new products to be introduced in Q1 2018, which will form important additions to the Alcons sound designer’s toolbox.
12 CRMSC-SRHV and six CRMS-LFE18 will feature in the expanded Pro-Ribbon Immersive Experience, where Alcons will again be teaming up with Astro Spatial Audio (ASA) for pro installation applications and with DreamScreen and Sony for residential projects. The audio system will be a hybrid 9.X.8 immersive surround configuration, used to reproduce native and upmixed Dolby Atmos, Auro-3D and DTS:X content, as well as ASA 3D material using that company’s SARA II Premium Rendering Engine. High quality immersive sound demonstrations will take place hourly in an acoustically-optimised room, alternating between the professional and home markets.
“ISE 2017 was a great success for Astro Spatial Audio, with our participation in the Pro-Ribbon Immersive Experience being a big part of the reason why,” says ASA Director Bjorn van Munster. “We are looking forward to partnering with Alcons again to create more very special demonstrations.”
“Immersive is a currently key word in the industry and the Alcons Pro-Ribbon Immersive Experience covers the immersive aspect of both live and residential sound from all angles – pun intended!” adds Alcons co-founder Tom Back. “We have specific distribution networks for each market, meaning customers in both enjoy the best knowledge and service possible.”
Another key part of Alcons’ ISE 2018 presence will be its role as an official Technology Partner for the show’s Commercial Solutions Theatre and World Masters of Projection Mapping, a new competition being produced as a co-operative venture between Amsterdam Light Festival, Integrated Systems Events and the RAI Amsterdam.
Finally, the company will be highlighting its 15th anniversary, a period which has seen the company’s pro-ribbon technology go from a virtually unknown, niche product to being the choice of many high end cinemas, touring engineers and home theatre installations throughout the world.
“The best way to experience the quality and power of our systems is to hear them for yourself. Audience expectations have never been higher and, by working collaboratively, sound and vision manufacturers can deliver an unrivalled sensory experience,” adds Tom.
ISE 2018 takes place at the Amsterdam RAI from 6th – 9th February 2018.
