The Agora community and arts centre (Hungarian: A Vértes Agorája) in Tatabánya, Hungary, has been equipped with two Meyer Sound systems, supplied by Budapest-based Chromasound.

In the Agora theatre, Chromasound installed a permanent CQ-1 loudspeaker system to support small ensemble musical and theatrical performances. A separate mobile system, based on the Meyer Sound JM-1P arrayable loudspeaker, complements the CQ-1 system during rock concerts, and is also used for outdoor events. The upgrade at the Agora was part of a wider government initiative to upgrade Hungary’s cultural facilities.

“The mobile system is capable of delivering a very high SPL, and the integration between the mobile and installed systems is easy to achieve,” says Makkay Imre, director of Chromasound. “The outstanding quality of the Meyer Sound loudspeakers proved itself from the moment the first fader went up.”

The installed system comprises a CQ-1 loudspeaker and a 700-HP subwoofer per side, while two UPA-1P and UPM-1P loudspeakers each provide fill as required. System optimization is handled by a Galileo loudspeaker management system featuring one Galileo 408 processor.

Agora’s mobile configuration consists of four JM-1P arrayable loudspeakers and two 700-HP subwoofers per side, as well as a Galileo system with a Galileo 408 processor. DiGiCo SD9 digital consoles are used for both the permanent and portable systems. In addition to supplying equipment, Chromasound also provided training to the technicians at the Agora.

With a goal of preserving Hungarian traditions while also looking to the future, the Agora is used for a variety of local community events and activities, including concerts, sports, lectures, technology education, competitions, and art exhibitions.
