As one of Poland’s most acoustically challenging venues, CKK Jordanki in Toruń hosted Kobranocka’s 40th anniversary concert. For this memorable performance, Michał Ciechanowicz’s rental company, working with distributor Lauda, deployed a COSMO line-array system that delivered the power, control and consistency the show needed.
Front of House engineer Kamil Bobrukiewicz, who mixes for Kobranocka and also works as FOH/MON engineer for Róże Europy, was immediately struck by the system’s performance in a room known for its notoriously tough acoustics. “You could say I have so much headroom today that I actually had to turn myself down!” he smiles. “The system is incredibly dynamic, with a huge reserve of power. Considering how unforgiving this room is, everything is performing beautifully.”
The setup for the anniversary concert combined COSMO C10 modules with C SUB 118 subs, supported by CONTOUR X frontfills and LINEAR 5 112X stage monitoring. The system was carefully tuned to manage the venue’s reflective architecture and deliver even coverage across the hall.
Having previously worked with COSMO at the Soundedit Festival, Bobrukiewicz was pleased to see C10 flown for this event. “It’s the perfect system for large productions,” he explained. “The C8 doesn’t lack anything and can be played dynamically or quietly, but the C10 has that extra authority and low-mid weight that really fills the room.”
Despite Kobranocka’s reputation for high-energy performances, Bobrukiewicz emphasised that the system is equally at home in more delicate situations. “The system will handle lighter productions just as well – there’s nothing you have to search for or fight with. It simply works.”
System provider Michał Ciechanowicz, who supplied the equipment and supported system tuning, noted the reactions from the engineering team. “They were very pleased, particularly with the clarity and the enormous power reserve. It’s a ‘10’ system, so for guitar-driven music it’s probably the best you could pick.”
Reflecting on the challenge of Jordanki’s distinctive architecture, Ciechanowicz added: “It delivered exactly what this room needed. Jordanki is not an easy space, so having engineers comment on the clarity and the power reserve is a real win.”
The concert was supported by a full local team and felt every bit the celebration fans had been waiting for. Summing up the night, Bobrukiewicz says, “Everything landed exactly where it should – such a great feeling.”
