Valencia, Spain – June 2012 … D.A.S. Audio, recognized globally as a leading manufacturer of loudspeaker systems for the most demanding sound reinforcement applications, is pleased to announce the introduction of the second generation Artec series loudspeakers. Available in both powered and passive configurations, the new Artec series loudspeakers encompass ten models designed to address a wide range of sound reinforcement applications. Featuring wide bandwidth and high SPL in a visually discrete package, the new Artec series can be installed on walls, ceilings, or columns thanks to an extensive selection of optional mounting accessories—and they are an ideal choice for under balcony, area fill, and near field applications. With reduced dimensions and sleek styling, they fit perfectly into multiple surroundings including hotels, restaurants, and convention facilities.
Among the most notable differences with the second generation Artec series loudspeakers is the inclusion of five self-powered models: the Artec 506A, 526A, 508A, 510A, and S15A subwoofer. Featuring Class D, 720 W peak / 360 W continuous power amplifiers in all models except the Artec S15A (which has a Class D, 2000 W peak / 1000 W continuous amplifier), the new Artec series powered loudspeakers deliver the proven point source performance Artec loudspeakers have long been recognized for while eliminating the necessity of external power amplification.
The passive Artec series models include the Artec 506, 526, 508, 510, and S15 subwoofer. Whether powered or passive, the new Artec series loudspeakers include a wide range of transducer complements designed to address most any sound reinforcement application. The Artec 506 / 506A utilizes a 6-inch LF transducer with a 1-inch HF compression driver while the Artec 526 / 526A uses two 6-inch LF transducers and a 1-inch HF compression driver. The Artec 508 / 508A include an 8-inch LF transducer with a 1-inch HF compression driver. These three models each have a HF horn dispersion pattern of 80 degrees x 80 degrees. The Artec 510 / 510A employs a single 10-inch LF transducers mated with a 1-inch HF compression driver and its HF horn dispersion pattern is 110 degrees x 50 degrees. The new Artec series S15A (powered) and S15 (passive) subwoofers employ a 15-inch LF loudspeaker.
These robust, versatile Artec series loudspeaker systems employ Birch plywood enclosures that are painted with a highly resistant black paint finish. The passive Artec series models provide two NL4 Speakon® connectors. The Artec 506A, 526A, 508A, and 510A provide female XLR inputs, a male loop thru XLR connector, and a male IEC AC input. The S15A subwoofer provides two female XLR inputs, two male XLR loop thru connectors, a PowerCon AC input and a PowerCon AC output.
The new D.A.S. Audio Artec series loudspeakers are designed for use in both portable and fixed sound reinforcement applications. With a wide range of accessories, including C-clamps for truss mounting, U-brackets for surface mount applications, rigging kits, facilities for pole mounting and more, the new Artec series loudspeakers make a great choice for everything from portable PA to the most elegant nightclub installations.
Robert Giner, D.A.S. Audio’s Director of Marketing commented on the company’s new Artec series loudspeakers. The D.A.S. Artec line has consistently been a solid performer and this new, second generation product line builds upon the strengths of the original product group. By offering both powered and passive designs, the new Artec product line can effectively address more sound reinforcement applications than ever before—all the while offering today’s sound reinforcement professional or AV integrator a wide range of choices and exceptional value. I’m confident these new loudspeakers will find a home in many different environments.”
