St. Paul, MN – February 2016… One of the most significant developments in both the touring sound and the AV installation markets is the focus on keeping all audio signals in the digital domain for as long as possible. With improved sound quality and streamlined system cabling, Audinate’s Dante® Audio Networking protocol brings an entirely new level of convenience and increased functionality to the ‘infrastructure’ of today’s most demanding audio setups. Dynamic Show Productions (DSP), an audio-visual staging company with a solutions oriented model to support event producers, corporate customers, and show professionals, recently sought a convenient means to interconnect a variety of audio sources—both Dante equipped and other formats. They found the solution in DELEC Audio’s Nio 0204 audio networking interface.
John Stojevich, Dynamic Show Productions’ CEO/Project Manager, handles just about everything from sales and marketing to solutions development and implementation for the company. During his search for a convenient means of integrating both Dante and non-Dante enabled devices, he discovered the compact Nio 0204’s rich feature set, including support for AES/EBU, its four 1GB Ethernet ports, analog audio I/O, an internal mixer, and its ability to supply power by either the internal power supply unit or via POE (Power Over Ethernet). He discussed his experience with the DELEC Nio 0204.
“In DSP’s audio department, we have fully integrated Dante technology within all of our systems and solutions,” Stojevich explained. “In wanting to remain within the digital domain from source to amplifier, we needed to integrate some newer technology with a very specific feature set. This included a compact form factor, high functionality, support for the Dante protocol, and a digital interface that could interconnect devices that are not Dante enabled.”
“We deploy L’Acoustics line array systems powered by L’Acoustics amplified controllers,” Stojevich continued. “To complete one of our systems, we wanted to maximize the digital inputs supplied on the LA4X controllers to retain a higher quality and have the signal populate on the Dante network. Having the ability to also connect the amplifier control on the network was an added bonus. Furthermore, by installing the DELEC Nio 0204 unit, not only are we able to send signal to the amps via Dante, we also now have a mini stage box within the amp rack—and internal mixer/router—that provides us with a very flexible system solution.”
Dynamic Show Productions purchased their first DELEC Nio 0204 in December 2015 and the unit was promptly integrated into the company’s equipment for a project that commenced in February 2016. Stojevich shared his experience with the DELEC interface, “We work very diligently to streamline our systems and create high efficiency solutions with a small footprint and the ability to deliver a high level of functionality. One means of accomplishing this is to interconnect all AVL departments via fiber. For this first event, we were able to use the Nio 0204. Our system interconnectivity was complete within a matter of seconds, we ran a pair of CAT6 cables from our fiber media rack and all signal and control was accomplished that easily. Everything populated onto the network immediately and we had functional audio within moments.”
In addition to the impressive capabilities of the Nio 0204, Stojevich was equally pleased with Salzbrenner Stagetec’s customer and technical support services. “The level of support we received from both Arnie Toshner and Norbert Schömel throughout the purchase process was outstanding,” Stojevich reports. “Not only is the product excellent, the people and the company behind the product proved equally impressive. I’m sold on the DELEC brand.”
Before turning his attention toward an upcoming project, Stojevich offered these parting thoughts regarding his experience with the DELEC Nio 0204, “Our DELEC Nio 0204 is everything we wanted and more. This interface enables us to provide the best possible production for our customers. It is the perfect solution for our systems and quite simply, we will be ordering another one of these units within the month. Thanks for the great product!”
