For nearly 20 years, Event Wave Productions has provided state of the art audio systems and design for corporate events, concerts, and other special events in Southern California and beyond. The company recently expanded its PA offering with a new L-Acoustics KARA system.
According to co-founder Peter Carpentier, “we work in a wide variety of venues, and our clients expect extreme clarity and intelligibility, in every seat. It’s also important that we have a highly dynamic, musical system to accommodate the range of entertainment at our events.”
“The compact size and weight, ease of rigging, and the high fidelity, L-Acoustics signature sound made this investment a no-brainer,” he concluded.
The new system consists of 24 KARA modular line source elements, 8 SB18 high power compact subwoofers, and 8 108A coaxial fill speakers. 2 LA-RAKs provide 24 channels of amplification to power the entire system. Venue acoustical modeling in 3D is accomplished via Soundvision software. System management and tuning is handled via a touchscreen tablet running LA Network Manager. Advanced capabilities include automatic network discovery and matching, array morphing, and FIR filtering.
Immediately following the company-wide L-Acoustics training, the new system debuted to acclaim during San Diego’s famous Comic Con at the Balboa Theatre. The following week, the KARA system was successfully deployed at the general session for an international convention in Long Beach, CA.
According to engineer Ross Goldman, “this system is highly scalable, from ballrooms to arenas, from corporate events to rock concerts. It’s a turnkey package that’s rider-friendly and sounds amazing. Because of the consistent L-Acoustics sonic signature, this system can also easily augment other AV companies’ L-Acoustics systems when they work in the Southwest.”
