Culum has five years’ experience in audio, working at London studio Jungle, on campaigns for the likes of Google, Pepsi, National Autistic Society, PETA and the Royal Navy. He has had an unusually rapid rise to success, gaining three major sound awards for his work in his first year as a sound designer.

Before moving into sound design, Culum worked as an actor, played in a band and ran his own rehearsal studios – a range of experiences which he feels has contributed to his skill and creativity in sound design.

Culum joins GCRS’s stable of best-of-breed sound designers, including Raj Sehgal, Ben Leeves, Munzie Thind, Gary Turnbull, Steve Lane, Tristan Rose, Tom Pugh and Aaron Taffel. He will be tasked with supporting the business in its ambition to bring audio excellence to the world’s best commercial spots and will also take an active role in ensuring that GCRS continues to nurture talent, at all stages of development.

Carole Humphrey, Managing Director, GCRS, comments: “We are tremendously excited about welcoming Culum to GC. Not only is he a true rising star in the UK sound industry, but he is also a really nice bloke. He is going to be a great fit with the culture here and I know that his talent, creativity and enthusiasm will make him very popular with all of our clients.”

Culum Simpson, Sound Designer, GCRS, adds: “I have had my eye on GCRS for a very long time and was absolutely delighted when Carole approached me to be part of the team. As well as working with this talented group of people, on critically-acclaimed commercials for world-leading brands, I’m excited to be learning what is possible with the top-of-the-range audio equipment that GCRS has invested in.”

GCRS has earned a reputation over the past 22 years as one of the UK’s premier commercial sound studios, providing audio excellence to award-winning spots including Nike: Write the Future, Jaguar: Rendezvous and Heineken: Odyssey.

The new seventh floor studio space The Lofts has opened in late 2015 and, in 2016, Studio Five will become one of the first commercial sound studios in London to incorporate cutting-edge audio format Dolby® Atmos™. Already used to great effect in the film industry, GCRS is investing in this technology in order to provide clients with the best audio experience in the world.
