AUSTIN, Texas – January 2018 — Since 2005, Nomad Sound, Inc. has been steadily building its reputation as a crackerjack regional sound reinforcement provider, picking up a 2016 Parnelli Award for “Hometown Hero Sound Company of the Southwest” along the way. Now, the company has another notch to add to its belt—its brand new designation as an L-Acoustics Certified Provider for the rental market (CPr).

Headquartered in Austin, Texas with a newly opened satellite location in Louisville, Colorado, Nomad Sound is under the direction of COO/Majority Owner Damon Lange and three partners, Rion King, Bret Branon, and Andy Tindall.

The company’s inaugural delivery of L-Acoustics gear, which arrived at the beginning of 2018, comprises 30 K2 enclosures, 20 KS28 subs, five LA-RAK II touring racks—each loaded with three LA12X amplified controllers—and a small Kara rig.

“As our organization grew, the need for a large format line array system led us to the K2 as it stands among the most requested, rider-friendly systems on the market,” says Damon Lange. “The sound and build quality won us over, but the L-Acoustics brand is so widely accepted as the industry gold standard, it was an easy decision for us to make.”

With 25 employees now on its team, Nomad Sound plans to use the new system on a wide range of events this year, including Belgium Brewing’s “Tour de Fat,” which visited 26 cities across the US in 2017, the psychedelic festival Levitation, concerts at the Austin 360 Amphitheatre, various touring acts, and multiple venues and stages at the annual SXSW Music Festival.

Nomad Sound Production Manager and Lead Engineer Jamie Wellwarth, who first experienced K1, K2 and Kara on Fitz and the Tantrum’s set at Coachella nearly seven years ago, is excited to finally have L-Acoustics gear in Nomad’s inventory. “I was amazed at that system’s clarity and depth of throw,” he recalls. “Since then, K1 and K2 have remained at the top of my sound rider requested systems because I can depend on them to deliver a powerful experience to fans from the front row all the way back to the parking lot.”

Rion King notes that he and his fellow Nomad Sound partners are “thrilled to be an L-Acoustics Certified Provider for many reasons, including the fact that it allows us a foot in the door, a seat at the table, and an opportunity to be part of a much larger conversation in terms of event production.

“We are passionate about creating unforgettable experiences that inspire artists and captivate audiences, and as we continue to expand, we’re seeking to redefine the boundaries of what a concert is and how many people can share in that unified moment. The K2 system represents the pinnacle of loudspeaker technology and serves as the right tool for creating moments of inspiration and awe, which is no surprise seeing that L-Acoustics pioneered the line source array design that makes what we do so much fun.”

L-Acoustics Regional Sales Manager B.J. Shaver praises the new CPr by adding, “When I initially met with Nomad, it was obvious that they provided a high quality of service to their customers, from sales to support. They also had a great understanding and respect for our network of providers, which they had utilized to support some of their existing customers. Nomad Sound is a great fit and a very welcome addition to the L-Acoustics family of providers.”
