Baton Rouge, Louisiana, June 2016… Compact and lightweight, new PreSonus AIR active loudspeakers provide a rich, extended low-end and natural high-frequency extension in an enclosure that will easily fit in the backseat of a small car. Backed by 1,200W (dynamic) of Class D/Class AB power and enhanced with easy-to-use digital tuning functions, AIR full-range systems give you all the power and tools you need for both mobile and installed sound.
The series includes three full-range loudspeakers: The AIR10 is based on a 10-inch woofer, while the AIR12 has a 12-inch woofer and the AIR15 relies on a 15-inch woofer. The full-range loudspeakers are driven by a distinctive amplification system that uses the respective strengths of Class D and Class A/B amplifiers. A 500W (continuous), Class D amplifier drives the low-frequency driver, providing efficient, clean power for powerful low end. A 200W (continuous), Class A/B amplifier powers the high-frequency driver, delivering a natural, “AIR-y” high end.
The AIR15s and AIR18s active subwoofers complete the series. Both models employ 1,200 watts (dynamic) of Class D power to provide detailed bottom end all the way down to 35 Hz. Although designed for use with AIR-series full-range loudspeakers, AIR-series subwoofers can be used with virtually any full-range loudspeaker thanks to their variable lowpass filter. Optimized presets for the AIR10, AIR12, and AIR15 make it easy to dial in your AIR 3-way system.
AIR full-range loudspeakers are equipped with easy-to-use DSP presets that customize their response for use as front-of-house mains, as monitor wedges, for music playback (e.g., for DJs), for enhanced low end and a warmer sound, and for improved speech intelligibility. Treble and bass controls boost or cut by 10 dB to compensate for room anomalies. Location presets optimize performance for stand and bracket mounting, as well as flown installations.
AIR subwoofers have DSP presets for normal front-of-house use and for extended low end. The subwoofers offer presets to quickly configure a cardioid array (end-fire or ground-stacked). Polarity reverse and a variable alignment delay are also provided to configure more complicated subwoofer arrays or to align your subwoofer to your full-range system.
The full-range speakers molded plastic, multi-angle enclosure sports nonskid rubber feet on the bottom for upright front-of-house use and on one side for stage monitor applications. Rig the speaker using M10 fly points, yoke-mount it to walls or beams, or ground-stack it for portable applications. Mount it on a tripod or atop an AIR-series subwoofer using the optional sub pole. The integrated dual-position pole mount lets you aim the speaker level or at a 7.5˚ downward tilt. AIR subwoofers offer a rugged, yet remarkably lightweight, tour-grade birch enclosure.
AIR-series full-range loudspeakers offer an onboard mixer with two combo XLR mic/TRS line inputs, each with a Class A microphone preamplifier and independent gain control. A stereo 1/8 connection admits signals from consumer audio devices. A balanced XLR Mix output lets you pass the signals to other AIR-series loudspeakers. AIR subwoofers sport two combo XLR and ¼ TRS line-level inputs with level control, and throughputs are provided to connect full-range systems or multiple subwoofers in larger systems.
With their best of both worlds power-amp configuration; clear, natural, AIR-y sound; carefully programmed DSP presets; versatile mounting options; flexible inputs with onboard mixing; and other professional features, PreSonus AIR-series loudspeakers are an excellent choice for both mobile and installed sound.
