Ft. Lauderdale, FL – NAMM Booth Hall A booth 6911… Synthax, Inc, distributors of world-class audio production tools for both studio and live applications, will be showcasing the RME Babyface Pro 24-Channel 192 kHz bus-powered USB audio interface during Winter NAMM. Providing a wealth of features, superior build quality, and rock-solid stability, the Babyface Pro USB audio interface is the perfect solution for mobile recording as well as project and home studio applications. The Babyface Pro USB audio interface ships with RME’s TotalMix FX zero latency software available for Windows, Mac OS X, and iOS, which enables one to use the interface in a wide range of audio applications.

The RME Babyface Pro supports a total of 12 Input and 12 Output channels. There are 4 analog inputs, including two XLR connectors and two ¼-inch connectors that support either line level or high impedance signals. There are also 4 analog outputs, encompassing two XLR connectors as well as two headphone outputs: one ¼-inch TRS (high impedance) and one 3.5 mm minijack (low impedance). Digital connectivity includes one 8-channel ADAT TOSLINK input and one ADAT TOSLINK output. Alternatively, these TOSLINK connectors can also provide S/PDIF digital audio input/output functionality. Of particular note, the ADAT interface includes SMUX support for transmitting high bandwidth digital audio up to 192 kHz using minimal processing power.

The audio circuitry found in the Babyface Pro interface is of the highest quality. Two digitally controlled preamps provide individually switchable 48V phantom power. These circuits feature a gain range of 76 dB, adjustable in steps of 1 dB, including a relay-driven PAD. The result is exceptional EIN (Equivalent Input Noise) performance as well as line overload protection—with enough gain for even the lowest level microphones.

As a USB interface that is fully compatible with Windows, Mac OS X, and iOS, the Babyface Pro is perfectly stable on the buss power of most USB 3 and USB 2 ports. The unit includes a DC input for use with an external power supply that is optionally available. This makes the Babyface Pro the perfect interface for mobile recording—even when used with condenser microphones. Additionally, the Babyface Pro incorporates one MIDI I/O port with an included breakout cable for external control.

While features are certainly important, the user interface is equally well designed. The Babyface Pro is manufactured with the highest precision from a block of aluminum. The result is a solid, impeccably machine crafted tool that feels great to the touch. For visual monitoring of signal flow, the interface includes four 11-segment LED ladder displays—two each for input and output. These displays are augmented on the Input side by status LEDs for Channels 1-2, Channels 3-4, or Optical. On the Output side, the status LEDs represent Channels 1-2, Phones, or Optical. Completing the system, the Babyface Pro USB audio interface employs RME’s SteadyClock technology for jitter-free performance.

Mathias von Heydekampf, Managing Director at Synthax, commented on the new RME Babyface Pro USB audio interface, “The Babyface Pro is an incredibly capable and extremely well-made interface that combines terrific audio quality and an impressive channel count with great flexibility—and it operates with the precision that audio pros demand. The unit feels great to the touch and this furthers one’s confidence in its ability to handle mission critical audio projects. I believe the Babyface Pro will be very well received.”

The RME Babyface Pro carries an MSRP of $799. The unit is available now.
