Rumor, a new destination for nightlife and private events, is taking Philadelphia, Pa. by storm. Featuring two large dance floors, a bar room, and a private VIP “vault,” the 700-capacity nightclub is making a sonic impact thanks to an ample complement of Meyer Sound loudspeakers.
Ian Hoffer, of Aurora Sound and Light Design LLC, designed and installed Rumor’s sound system, as well as all lighting and effects. A 20-year veteran of production, club design and integration, Hoffer chose an all-Meyer Sound array for Rumor’s main room, using four CQ-2 loudspeakers and six 600-HP subwoofers, and for DJ monitoring, two UPJ-1P VariO™ loudspeakers and one UMS-1P subwoofer. The bar room features three more UPJ-1P VariO loudspeakers.
General Manager Mark Marek explains that only Meyer Sound would meet the specifications he laid out for Rumor. “I knew that it would never run to full capacity in a club environment,” he says, “which would leave us all the headroom, all the fidelity, and still give people the sensation they were looking for, which was ‘feeling’ the sound. Is it excessive? Absolutely. But many of those who walked in since we opened made a positive comment about the sound system.”

“When I have the chance,” Hoffer continues, “I would always rather use Meyer Sound because I think it’s the best on the market.”
Along with the Meyer Sound equipment, the nightclub features the MA Lighting grandMA2 ultra-light system.
