Based in Dundee, Scotland, Apex Acoustics has recently expanded its Meyer Sound rental inventory with six self-powered Meyer Sound JM-1P arrayable loudspeakers and four 700-HP subwoofers.
“We needed a good, reliable point source system that we could put on stage and has the power and headroom to deliver a dynamic sound,” explains Paul Smith, managing director of Apex Acoustics.
Apex is supplying the JM-1P loudspeakers for rock shows that include an Admiral Fallow concert at Perth Concert Hall and a show by the UK rock band Toploader. The 700-HP subwoofers are specified for the National Theatre of Scotland’s production of Let The Right One In.
The Meyer Sound JM-1P loudspeaker combines powerful performance with scalable horizontal coverage. Designed to integrate seamlessly in tight-packed clusters, the JM-1P is distinguished by its precisely defined 20-degree horizontal by 60-degree vertical pattern. This ensures consistent performance and controlled coverage in large or reflective acoustic environments while reducing impact on sightlines.
Smith first encountered the JM-1P during a Janelle Monàe concert at the Montreux Jazz Festival. “I thought it was amazing, and after that it was always in the back of my mind that we would eventually buy some ourselves,” he says.
Apex Acoustics purchased its first Meyer Sound systems in 1989, and became Scotland’s sole Meyer Sound dealer in 2004. Its Meyer Sound hire inventory also includes the recently added MINA™ and M’elodie® line array loudspeakers, among others.
“Over time you fall in love not only with the brand itself, but with Meyer Sound’s philosophy of always wanting to make the better products,” says Smith.
