Tesla Resonates to the Sound of Void

Budapest’s hottest new exclusive nightspot takes its name from the former downtown electrical transformer house in which it is located. By day Tesla still resonates to the echoes of the countless amperes that flowed through the historic building in earlier days, while by night Tesla releases the stored energy in the form of infectiously danceable electronic music.

The 700-capacity exclusive nightclub opened in December with the most up to date sound and lighting entertainment technologies, making it one of the most advanced night venues in Hungary.

Void’s Hungarian distributor Erlatech Stage Ltd specialises in providing complete solutions for live events and installations ranging from small bars, restaurants, and lounges up to large nightclubs, using the latest technology and high performance products. Erlatech’s sound and lighting engineer Atilla Tompó, together with colleagues Gábor Horváth, Ádám Juhász, and Attila Németh, designed and installed the new Void Acoustics sound system at Tesla that features the very first white Nexus system to be installed anywhere.

“The owners, Neon Group Ltd, wanted a loudspeaker system with a prominent design in order to make the club really individual, and one that would be able to easily handle anything from live bands to electronic music,” says Tompó. “They chose Void above all other possible brands, and because of this and the club’s high reputation Tesla is quite unique in Hungary.”

The loudspeaker system is divided into three main zones. The two white finish Nexus 6 loudspeaker are flown and positioned to focus evenly on to the main floor space, with five Stasys 218s providing sub-bass support. Outside of the two vertical columns at right and left, Air Motions provide around 3dB lower sound level for the customers who are drinking in the bar areas, while a total of ten wall mounted Venu 10 passive two-way loudspeakers and a pair of Stasys 218 subs cover all the remaining delayed peripheral areas. The DJ monitor system is catered for in the form of two Airten V2s and two Venu 115 subs.

Since the grand opening weekend, the venue has hosted a selection of popular artists and performances from Clark (Warp Records – UK), The/Das (Life and Death – DE), Ott. (Ottsonic – UK), Andrey Pushkarev (Deepmix – RU), Gaiser (Minus – DE), and Roska (Rinse FM – UK), providing a thrilling start to this, the third phase of the Tesla evolution.

“The owners are extremely satisfied with the sound quality in all areas. The SPL is high where it needs to be, which creates fantastic energy in the room with plenty of sub-bass frequencies. The Void loudspeaker system is advertised in all their promotional activities, and they are very proud of it. Void’s exclusive design, great sound, high quality and branding speaks for itself.”
