Anaheim, CA – March 2016… As is customary each January, the annual winter NAMM show at the Anaheim Convention Center recently concluded. For anyone who has ever walked the aisles of this show, the first and foremost impression is just how unbelievably loud it is. Even the best and most well-intentioned demonstrations—hundreds of them (and many occurring simultaneously)—end up creating an ear-splitting cacophony of noise. For this very reason, loudspeaker manufacturer D.A.S. Audio elected to take matters ‘off-site’ and host an after show party so that interested parties could hear the D.A.S. difference in a more controlled environment.

Available for free to all NAMM show badge holders, the after show party took place on Saturday, January 23rd at the Sutra nightclub, the go-to venue for party goers and music enthusiasts from all over Southern California and beyond. In addition to hosting a wide range of business associates, the event was specifically geared as an opportunity for critical listening of D.A.S. Audio’s recently introduced Sound Force series loudspeakers, which are designed for today´s high-level dance venues where exceptional sound, imposing power, and impressive looks are key requisites. The new series presently offers four models comprising mid & high, mid bass, and subwoofer options.

Darrin Young, D.A.S. Audio’s Business Development Manager for MI, Retail, and Club Installations, coordinated the Sutra after party, which included the musical stylings of Los Angeles-based DJ Serafin, with an opening set by Miami’s popular DJ B-Side. Young discussed the Sound Force loudspeakers, the setup, and other aspects of the event.

“For the afterparty setup,” Young explained, “we used two SF-112 3-way enclosures, and four each of the SF-215 bass-mid loudspeakers, and four SF-221 dual 21-inch subwoofers. The Sound Force tops, which consisted of SF-215 and SF-112 enclosures, were positioned in a horizontal cluster in Stereo—one cluster per side—on top of tall podiums (dancers stage) to provide maximum coverage of the room without having to fly the loudspeakers. A center cluster consisting of four SF-221’s was placed at the front of the dancefloor, beneath the DJ’s position. We also deployed D.A.S. Vantec series loudspeakers for the DJ’s monitor system. This setup consisted of one stack per side of a Vantec 18A powered subwoofer with a D.A.S.-TSP-1 telescoping sub pole supporting a Vantec 15A 2-way enclosure in a 10-degree position.”

DJ B-Side, who has worked with the D.A.S. Sound Force series loudspeakers on previous engagements, shared his perspective on the attributes of the system as deployed at Sutra, “The Sound Force system provided extreme clarity and transparency throughout the audio spectrum compared to many typical club systems. Being a 5-way system, the Sound Force series allows precise tuning to accommodate for the layout and size of the room. The ground shaking bass could be felt a block away—all while enabling guests to conduct a conversation anywhere in the room. Even for those people on the dancefloor, the system provided clean and powerful audio that still enabled you to converse with the person right next to you.”

Before the evening concluded, DJ Serafin and Steven Wright, Director of Identity Management Group, Sutra’s event management firm, both shared their perspectives on the D.A.S. Sound Force series loudspeakers. DJ Serafin noted, “There’s no comparison! D.A.S. has the cleanest, most ‘heart-pounding’ low-end bass I’ve ever felt. The club just felt more alive with this system. The bass made the CD players and everything else nearby dance!” Steven Wright said, “The Sound Force system really enhanced our guest experience. Even at loud volumes, the sound was crystal clear. I was able to hear the full spectrum and differentiate all sounds and frequencies. The system’s bass really got the crowd moving & earlier than normal.”

Cabinet construction for the Sound Force Series is consistent with the D.A.S. pro systems standards, using Baltic birch plywood, a robust build, and the durable ISO-flex coating for years of service.
