The 2019 USITT Conference & Stage Expo sees Alcons Audio demonstrating its expanded commitment to the theatre and live entertainment market by having a bigger presence at the event than ever before.

USITT (the United States Institute for Theatre Technology) is focused on promoting learning amongst theatre and live event design and technology practitioners, so the annual Conference & Stage Expo is very focused on demonstrations and interactivity, ensuring that visitors see and hear the products in action.

Taking place from March 20 – 23 in Louisville, Kentucky, this year Alcons will provide visitors a number of opportunities to hear the benefits of its pro-ribbon audio systems. These will include the Live Sound Loudspeaker Demo and the main sound reinforcement systems on the Sound Design Stage and Lighting and Digital Media Stage on the Expo floor.

At the Live Sound Loudspeaker Demo (taking place on March 20-21), visitors will be able to hear the advantages of Alcons pro-ribbon technology compared to systems by several other manufacturers. A system comprising LR7 micro line array modules, VR8 compact versatile monitors and BC332 cardioid subwoofers with Sentinel10 Amplified Loudspeaker Controllers will participate in the round-robin demos, which take place three times each day (at 11.30pm, 2.30pm and 5pm). In addition, a full demonstration of the Alcons system will take place at 4.30pm on March 20 and again at 1.30pm on March 21.

A variety of content will be presented on the Sound Design Stage and Lighting and Digital Media Stage through Alcons pro-ribbon systems. The Alcons VR12 mid-size versatile monitor system will handle the duties on the Sound Design Stage while a larger system of LR14/90 and LR14/120 ultra-compact line array modules, LR14B bass modules and SR9 ultra-compact infill monitors will reinforce the Lighting and Digital Media Stage.

Another interactive highlight of USITT is the annual Tech Olympics, which invites teams of student members and their coaches from around the US to compete in a timed series of events designed to test their skills at the various disciplines involved in theatre production. Alcons is donating prizes of $100, $75 and $50 Amazon shopping sprees for the first, second and third place winners in the Sound System Setup event.

Also exhibiting at Booth 630, the company will be showing the VR5 mini versatile monitor, BF181 mkII compact subwoofer, RR12 point source array module and QR24 modular line source array column, with company staff on hand to discuss the products on show and all the systems in use throughout the Conference & Stage Expo.

“The USITT Conference & Stage Expo is a great opportunity for us to demonstrate and discuss the increasing success that Alcons pro-ribbon systems are enjoying in the US theater and live entertainment markets, it is a remarkable platform to inspire and engage with the next generation of theatre and Broadway sound designers,” says David Rahn, the company’s North American sales manager. “Our evolutionary audio solutions provide significant advantages on numerous fronts. Seasoned professionals, who are curious about the applications of pro-ribbon technology in theater, to up-and-coming students, hear the difference that Alcons delivers.”

USITT 2019 takes place at the Kentucky International Convention Center in Louisville, Kentucky. The Live Sound Loudspeaker Demo takes place on March 20-21 in the Marriott Ballroom, at the Marriott Louisville Downtown hotel adjacent to the convention center.
