Another Super Bowl and another perfect production with zero blemishes, some shaky camera pedestals but zero blemishes and no costume mishaps. As a former Hot-Lanta resident I loved Usher do his performance for the Super Bowl even tho Alicia Keys jumped in the musical hot pocket on the first note “sorry-not sorry for the jazz reference”. A first for Allegiant stadium where thanks to Travis Kelce the King of Rock n roll is still singing “Viva Las Vegas”. Im reminded of how difficult success at this level is. No seriously. At the level of stadia and the Super Bowl nothing is bigger, not even the Super Dome who hosts next years SuperBowl (good luck Saints). I hope the production crew next week off or maybe even the next 9 months. The end of the football season makes it clear. Production and music dominate sports not joking, no production then its just a boring game that no one talks about.
The end of the season was dominated by a music and sports influence. Looking at the schedule it took for the chiefs to get to the Super Bowl and then comparing it to Taylor Swifts tour schedule, im literally in tour ah and I love the spirt that the Chief’s had after winning. They immediately said they’d do it again next year.
From an audio standpoint as this is an audio publication I can only assume a traditional system as from years in the past. Racks of portable ground stacked JBL 4889 boxes which rumored not allowed to be used by other stadiums referee microphones that were more than intelligible acoustically speaking listening to the broadcast mix followed by an artist who like so many other performers before got to perform but likely not sing reference the Chilli Peppers Performace where well, all the performance songs are pre recorded etc which has become the new norm.
As the former king of stadium I must solute Taylor’s tour and the finishing touches on Sphere MSG Las Vegas. Both have created new prosecution standards and reached new heights. As I watch another Super Bowl production and remember by one week shot of working on Sphere I must share with others who watch and participate in giant 100,000 seat events and those coming into the industry with eager eyes. It’s a small world, anything is possible and keep the right attitude. Trust me the smarter more intelligent engineer, gets left at home…. Every time. People only want to tour with other fun people, not Debbie Downers who aren’t confident, fun and easy going. However sometimes, its good just to crack a whip and make fun of those who cant measure polarity.
As the resident expert who been fired at one time by everyone including the superdome I use say a SuperBowl-tastic congrats to this years teams both on and off the field and firmly solute Ms.Taylor Swift for her Eras tour and her counter part Beyonce. Who got almost if not more screen time during the Super Bowl.
Serious pro audio question of the day. Why was the headset mics on the coaches more stable than Ushers mic? Or was it? Btw, thank you 49ers for the amplifier order long ago. Was a proud moment to sell a stadium sound system have it copied from my previous designs and didnt even have to sell it. 49ers, better luck next year.
