It's absolutely amazing to watch folks come on board and see this NOOBIE of a forum grow and develop character. A more laid back and benign couple of organizers I can't imagine.

Group hug......

Re: From where I sit....

I agree with Dick. I smile a little to my self as I see the member list grow and always includes one or two power posters, or revered lurkers, some famous, some in-famous (

). It's heartening to see the same group of people come together. I think it speaks more to the Community that we are involved in than it does about any forum or software or corporate influence.

Re: From where I sit....

I'd like to echo Dick's and Justice's thoughts.

Even though they'll probably survive, the whole process there in announcing and changing things has just left a bad taste in my mouth.

Too bad, learned a lot there. Guess I'll get to keep learning here. Thanks to everyone.

Best regards,

John

I'm with John. I checked in over there this morning and noticed a Moderator had altered one of Dick's posts. Why the hell would they do that and then lock the thread? Yes, a bad taste indeed!

Pat....

To be fair, they didn't change a word of what I wrote. They DID delete the contentious ''discussion'' which followed. I thanked them for letting my post stand. They respected my position and that's all I can ask.

I had my say......

Thanks for the clarification, Dick. Good to know. A little respect was all we were asking for to begin with.

Re: From where I sit....

I just had a post disappeared over there and I wasn't even talking about the constitution or social issues (whatever those are).

This is pretty disappointing. I enjoyed that community.

If course nothing happened to the people.

It's not too late for them to see the light, but good will is dissipating quickly.

aghhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh

Re: From where I sit....

A few years back, purely by coincidence one late night, I was perusing the LAB and Abdul had just posted something. I believe I was the first to read it. By some small twist of fate Abdul had signed his post with his real name. It was quickly changed and I have forced myself to ''forget'' the real signature under penalty of death.

?;o)

I noticed the post disappear. It was there, I clicked on it, and it said, sorry no workie. I was dissapointed because I'm always interested in what you have to say JR.

I think there will be collateral damage when it's all said and done, but I see this place as a preservation effort. The only interest we have are the people here (and maybe a few that have been too bull headed to switch or have just been dis-enchanted by it all). The owners of the other place have monetary interests, but so did Coke when they tried ''New Coke'' and look where that got them.

I guess Coke didn't even have an excuse as the company did not change hands, at least EH can blame ignorance.

I saw your post. Deleting it further undermines any remaining credibility. What happened to, ''I do not agree with what you say but I will defend until death your right to say it''?

Too much 800 pound gorilla and no Diane Fossey.

I don't want to talk about anyone in any sort of derogatory way, but how do Mac and the other moderators just sit there and take this? They aren't employed by PSW, they can leave at any time, right?

I was wondering the same thing. Threads are getting locked at a super rapid rate, posts disappearing, etc, etc. When will it end? Me thinks it already has.
